Everything is Extra

Last week, I crossed a stage that symbolized the culmination of years of hard work, late-night study sessions, and countless challenges—my graduation as a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. But this day wasn’t just a celebration of academic achievement; it was a testament to courage—the courage to face the unknown, to push through adversity, and to hold on to hope when the road seemed most difficult.

The journey to this moment wasn't easy. There were times when the weight of expectations and the fear of failure felt overwhelming. Every exam, every project, every hurdle seemed like a mountain that was too high to climb. But in those moments, I learned that courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s the decision to keep moving forward despite it.

Courage took on many forms throughout my years in university. It was the courage to ask for help when I didn't understand something, to admit my weaknesses and work on them, and to keep going when giving up seemed like the easier choice. It was also the courage to dream big, to believe that I was capable of more, and to take steps toward those dreams, even when the path was unclear.

To my surprise, during the baccalaureate, I was honored with an award. In that moment, I realized that the greatest reward I had already received was not something that could be held in my hands, but a gift from God. The physical award was just a bonus—a recognition of the hard work that had already been blessed by something far greater. This doesn't diminish the achievements I've earned; rather, it puts them into perspective. Everything I've received, from the first day of my studies to graduation day, is extra—an added blessing.

Celebration is fleeting, a moment of joy that soon passes, but the character we build lasts a lifetime. It's crucial to remain humble, to keep my feet on the ground, and to maintain discipline within myself while showing grace and tolerance toward others.

Graduation was not just the end of a chapter but the beginning of a new one. It was a reminder that life's challenges don't end here—they only evolve. But now, I face them with the knowledge that I have already overcome so much. The courage I've built will carry me through the next stages of life, helping me to embrace new challenges, seize opportunities, and grow into the person I aspire to be.

As I move forward, I hope my story resonates with others who are on their own journeys. Whether you're a student, a professional, or someone striving to achieve a personal goal, remember that courage is your greatest ally. It will guide you through the darkest moments and push you to reach heights you never thought possible.

Graduation is a milestone, but the true success lies in the courage it took to get here and the courage to keep going. Let this be a reminder to all who read it: be brave, stay hopeful, and never stop believing in your ability to overcome.
